A college student struggles to find herself as she tries to navigate the disorienting spiral of depression consuming everything she thought she knew. Can she find self love, wellness, and her true self when the parasite in her mind wants to take over?

Choosing Optimistic C was produced in the 2014 Fall Freestage Festival at Illinois State University, directed by Katie McCarty. Allison Sokolowski coordinated with the Student Counseling Services to provide mental wellness resources to audiences as well as a talk-back after every performance. The production received fantastic feedback from individuals who identified with the protagonist's struggles, some who then decided to seek help for themselves.

Allison is currently working on editing and searching for opportunities to further develop and produce the play in hopes of continuing to reduce stigmas against mental illness and promote mental wellness.
